1872 The Works of Tobias Smollett With Memoirs of His Life

A complete eight volume set of the works of Tobias Smollett, bound in crushed half morocco. The new edition. Eight volume complete set. Bound in crushed half morocco with cloth to the boards. Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece to 'Volume One'. Edited by James P. Browne. This set features the works of Tobias Smollett, a Scottish novelist, surgeon and playwright. Best known for his picaresque novels featuring roguish heroes such 'The Adventures of Roderick Random and 'The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle', both of which are included in this set. This collection also includes a memoir of his life and a view of the commencement and progress of romance by John Moore, a Scottish physician and author. Bound in crushed half morocco with cloth to the boards. Externally very smart with rubbing to the extremities and raised bands resulting in slight loss to the head of the spines to 'Volumes V, VI and VIII', very minimal rubbing to the joints to the odd volume, bumping to the extremities of the boards, fading to the spines and joints and the odd minor mark to the boards. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned and clean pages. Overall: Very Good Indeed
