The first edition of this complete eleven volume set of the works of British political economist and politician David Ricardo, in the original dust wrappers. The first edition of this set, complete in eleven volumes. With volumes I to X published from 1951-1955, and including the additional General Index volume, published in 1973. In very scarce original dust wrappers, price clipped. This is the definitive edition of Ricardo's work, and includes many of his writings which were previously unpublished. Volume I: On the Principles of Political Economy and Taxation, with three facsimile leaves. Volume II: Notes on Malthus's Principles of Political Economy, with two facsimile leaves. Volume III: Pamphlets and Papers 1809-1811, with three facsimile leaves. Volume IV: Pamphlets and Papers 1815-1823, with five facsimiles. Volume V: Speeches and Evidence, with two plates. Volume VI: Letters 1810-1815, with one plate. Volume VII: Letters 1818-1818, with two plates. Volume VIII: Letters 1819-1821, with one plate. Volume IX: Letters July 1821-1823, with two plates. Volume X: Biographical Miscellany, with five plates. Volume XI: General Index, Collated, complete. Published by Cambridge University Press for the Royal Economic Society, and edited by Piero Sraffa with the collaboration of M. H. Dobb. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with price clipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Dust wrapper back strips age toned, with wraps only a touch age toned to perimeters. Closed tear to head of fold over front joint to volume XI, and to tail of fold over front joint of volume II. Light edgewear to back strip heads. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. A superb set of mostly first editions of the novels of R. D. Blackmore, a nice set uncommon to see of the late Victorian's writings. Fourteen works by R. D. Blackmore in thirty-five volumes. Very scarce to see Blackmore's works in a set. Smartly bound in a half morocco binding by W. J. Mansell. This smart set includes almost the complete works of Blackmore. Blackmore was one of the most famous novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century, best remember today for his 'Lorna Doone'. This set includes; 'Clara Vaughan', complete in three volumes, published in 1864. The very scarce first edition. Half-title is present to each volume.
