Antique 19th Century Russian Solid Silver, Velvet & Leather Book Cover c.1890

About the Item

Antique 19th Century Russian solid silver book cover, featuring velvet and leather. The front is adorned with burgundy velvet and intricate silver decoration, including a foliate border, acanthus leaves and Tudor roses. One side of the cover has a silver locking plate, while the other, the leather cover that protects the spine of the book. The underside is fitted with raised silver feet in the shape of a Tudor rose. It is not hallmarked but has been acid tested and shows a 800+ silver purity. CONDITION In Good Overall Condition - Some minor damages, the silver is coming away from the velvet liner.
