A uniformly bound set of these delightful novels and poetry from George Whyte-Melville.
A uniform set in signed half crushed morocco binding by Bayntun.
Twenty-four volumes of novels and poems by George Whyte-Melville.
Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece and plates to each.
After translating some Horace in 1850, Whyte-Melville published his first novel, Digby Grand, in 1852, which was a success. He went on to publish 21 other novels and became a popular writer for largely field sports, such as hunting.
Other genres of his speciality included historical romance, such as his novel The Gladiators.

In Bayntun half calf bindings. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to the extremities, heavier to 'Digby Grand' spine, 'Market Harborough' rear and 'Songs and Verses' extremities. Marks to the boards to 'Songs and Verses'. Marks to the spines, heavier instances to 'Katerfelto'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the odd spot. Scattered spotting to 'Cerise'.

Blackmore was one of the most famous novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century, best remember today for his 'Lorna Doone'.
