About the Item

The first catalog raisonné of the more than four hundred artistic glasses made between 1927 and 1947 by Carlo Scarpa for the Murano glassworks of Giacomo Cappellin and Paolo Venini, works that represent a significant part of the early years of his activity: often prototypes and unique creations, these pieces document Scarpa's extraordinary design inventiveness and the variety of typologies and decorations, from the Phoenician decoration to the lattimi, from the submerged to the brushstrokes, from the silvery blacks to the wrought iron. An opportunity for comparison between the activity of Scarpa-designer and that of Scarpa-architect, united by curiosity and desire for experimentation. 550 colour illustrations. 304 pages. 2080 grams. Text: Italian.
