About the Item

This is a very good 1st edition (second issue) of this much sought after society journal which is still in a very good dust jacket though there are one or two short closed tears and small chips to extremities. This book comprises a unique panorama of the first years of the 20th century. It includes a collection of his beautiful photographs, amusing drawings and vivid articles, an important feature of the book are the 34 articles written on varied subjects and includes many witty biographies of film stars of that era. There are over 350 illustrations which not only illustrate the articles but also in themselves provide a magnificent view of life at that time. A scarce book and a real collectors item.

Cecil Beaton: A Biography & Reddish House Christies Catalogue (book)
Located in North Yorkshire, GB
Here we have two items relating to the late Sir Cecil Beaton, a multi talented man who was a celebrated photographer, author, diarist and set designer, to name but a few of his accomplishments. Firstly there is a Christie's sale catalogue which was produced in 1980 for the disposal of the contents of Reddish House in Wiltshire, held over two days with 725 lots which included works of art, furniture, silver, pictures, porcelain and garden effects. The catalogue has 142 illustrations including 14 in colour, the catalogue must have belonged to someone who attended the second day of the sale as there is a price noted in hand against all lots that day. The second book is a Bigraphy of Cecil Beaton by Hugo...
