Eleanor Lambert: Still Here by John Tiffany, Stated 1st Ed
About the Item
Eleanor Lambert: Still Here, by John Tiffany. Publisher: Pointed Leaf Press, 2011. 1st Ed hardcover no dust jacket as issued. Often referred to as the Empress of Seventh Avenue, Miss Lambert, up to the time of her death at the age of 100, looked the part with her trademark turbans and oversized jewelry. Her barrage of news releases and enthusiastic work as a publicity agent did much to further the careers of numerous American designers, among them Norman Norell, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Halston, and Anne Klein. She single-handedly created The Best Dressed List, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the COTY and CFDA Awards, and the original Fashion Week. Eleanor Lambert: Still Here is the definitive monograph on the achievements of the extraordinary woman who changed fashion history, putting American fashion on the map in a culture once wholly dominated by European design and traditions. Written through the eyes and experiences of John Tiffany, who not only worked for Miss Lambert but who has access to a trove of archival materials that have never been published before, this book will provide all of the fashion-obsessed with behind-the-scenes accounts of a woman who gave life to the industry as we now know it.

Luigi Ghirri: It's Beautiful Here, Isn't It... by Luigi Ghirri. Published by Aperture, NY, 2008. Stated 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. Ghirri was an extraordinary photographer, as well as a writer and curator whose career was so rich and varied that it seems like a lesson in the contemporary history of the medium. Although well known in his native Italy, Ghirri does not yet have the international audience his work merits--perhaps because he died so young. This is the first book published on Ghirri in the U.S. It will establish him as the seminal artist he was. Uncannily prescient, Ghirri shared the sensibility of what became known in the U.S. as the New Color and the New Topographics...
