During her prolific career as an artist, Gloria Garfinkel has created an extraordinary body of innovative work in the mediums of painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, collage and photography. Gloria Garfinkel: Works 1961-2018 is the first comprehensive monograph to explore the full arc of Garfinkel’s artistic life, and to examine the origins, methods and inspirations that illuminate the experience of her remarkable oeuvre.
?Texts include: an introduction by the book’s editor Andrew Kelly; a foreword by prominent art historian Dore Ashton; and a scholarly title essay by noted New York author, educator and curator Robert Ayers. An extensive interview with the artist is also included. The book. is lavishly illustrated in full color with over 350 pages of plates of the artist’s work; numerous additional supporting images, including those of the artist and her New York studio; and reproductions of seminal works by artists who have influenced Gloria Garfinkel, including Paul Cezanne, Joseph Cornell, Sonia Delaunay, Marcel Duchamp, Barbara Hepworth, Utagawa Hiroshige, Henri Matisse, and Johannes Vermeer.
