Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, a Cultural Study by Graham Hood. Williamsburg: The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. First edition hardcover with dust jacket, 1991. 343 pp. A study of the historical American house and it's artifacts. Built before the American Revolution it housed royal governors, Forborne Berkeley and Lieutenant Governor Francis Fauquier. The house and its objects reflect the cultured English gentlemen that first inhabited the home. It illustrates how decorative arts can be a key to deciphering daily life and purposeful thought in the largest and most populous of Britain's North American colonies.
