The book traces the development of garden design worldwide from medieval gardens to contemporary creations of 21st c designers. Gardens included are: the classic gardens of Le Nôtee and 'Capability' Brown, Blenheim, Versailles, Stowe, and Baux-le-Vicomte. Also gardens from the East, Daisen-in, Katsura Rikyu, The New Summer Palace Gardens in Beijing. The book also includes gardens in India, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Poland, America and Sri Lanka. It illustrates 77 iconic gardens with over 300 color images.
