About the Item

A seven book series by Jean-Jacques Barthelemy titled "Voyage du Jeune Anacharsis". The books have Leather spines with gilt lettering, which is in French was published in Paris in 1840. Volume 1 includes a hand written letter from a colleague praising his work Abbot Jean-Jacques Barthélemy (20 January 1716 – 30 April 1795), was a French clergyman, archaeologist, numismatologist, and scholar who became the first person to decipher an extinct language.[2] He deciphered the Palmyrene alphabet in 1754 and the Phoenician alphabet in 1758 The set of seven together is 8.5 inches wide
