First edition hardcover with dust jacket, 2007. 365 pp. A tour of more than 40 historical estates on the North Shore of Long Island. At one point the island had over 100 grand estates with an architectural assembly unmatched anywhere in America or Europe. The houses were commissioned by the great families of the era: du Pont's, Vanderbilt's, Whitney's and Morgan's. The book has over 300 archival photographs and floor plans with biographies of the prominent architects who designed them..
