About the Item

A Master of Design For almost half a century, the architect Paolo Buffa has occupied the furniture design scene with a well-recognizable style: a limpid art, skilful and exquisite in detail, proportions and the whole, always coherent and harmonious. The strength of the designer Buffa was to believe in the extraordinary vitality of a market that is always sensitive to the values of art productions, such as to last over time. What is striking in his works is the happy naturalness of a design that, despite its apparent simplicity, stands out for its rich and refined articulation. The fundamental character of his pieces lies in a straightforward formal freshness, also due to the perfect fusion between design and execution. Paolo Buffa was a polite but authoritative designer. Its production is based on a functional, complete and easy-to-read design for every category of user, executor, merchant and final purchaser. A design that did not require translations or interpretations of any kind to be deciphered; However, it is rigorously aimed at high-end cabinet-making products, decorations and surfaces that require marked mechanical precision and a high level of respect for the organic characteristics of the materials. From the 1930s to the 1960s, Buffa was faithful to his natural predisposition for the neoclassical world, a heritage that has been analysed and reworked by virtue of a skilful balance between form and function. It has not sacrificed to ephemeral fashions but has followed a coherent evolution, particularly noticeable in the production of the 60s, supported by a refined aesthetic vision in which severe elegance is combined with a subtle technological rigour.
