Wrought iron and its decorative use by Maxwell Ayrton and Arnold Silcock. New York: Charles Scriber's Sons, 1929. Hardcover with no dust jacket. 196 pp. An informative reference book on the ancient craft of wrought iron throughout England. It was published by the British magazine "County Life Ltd." The book illustrates the history of the craft from the 14th century up to the Art Deco period of the early 20th century. It includes metal smiths from all over Great Britain and a special section on the decay and revival of the craft. The book has 241 black-and-white illustrations including photographs and line drawings of gates, railings, screens, and other elaborately rendered works. A scarce work. NPT Books a division of N.P.
