Antique Tsarist Russian Ladies Silver & Yellow Gold Clutch Purse or Evening Case

About the Item

This antique ladies clutch purse or evening case is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from Tsarist Russia and date to approximately 1900 and done in their ttraditional Imperialist style. The case itself and chain are composed of 840 silver with a very large central inset medallion of 14 karat yellow gold with cyphers on the corners and also on the back. The lock is decorated with a blue semi-prescious stone, and the inside has an accordian insert done with velvet lined paper board. The hinge and clasp function as intended and the case is clearly marked with the Russian silver hallmark for .840 silver. The entire case weighs 524 grams.
