Attributed to Sergio Bustamante, Mexican Sterling Silver Sun Face Pendant, 1990s

About the Item

Attributed to Sergio Bustamante, Mexican Sterling Silver Sun Face Pendant, 32g From a private collection of Sergio Bustamante jewelry, this substantial sterling silver sun pendant is confidently attributed to the celebrated Mexican surrealist artist. Measuring approximately 2.25 inches high (including bail) by 1.75 inches in diameter, the piece features a hand-modeled face at the center of a radiating corona of flame-like rays. Each ray is individually formed and slightly curved, giving the pendant an expressive, sculptural quality that reflects Bustamante’s distinctive approach to form. The stylized visage at the center exudes a bold, dreamlike presence, emblematic of the artist’s fusion of folkloric imagery and surrealism. While unsigned on the face, the reverse is engraved “Mex .925” in script. The craftsmanship, design, and weight (32 grams) are fully consistent with known Bustamante silverwork from the late 20th century. An evocative and wearable work of art—ideal for collectors of Mexican silver, celestial motifs, or Bustamante’s imaginative world.
