About the Item

Jewel walking stick, made of silver, designed and made by Turriet & Bardach. The spherical knob represents a Vanitas – Memento Mori. On the 3 sides of the sphere, there are black and white striped agates of round shape, cabochon cut, interspersed with 3 skulls in relief. At the top of the knob, there is a large black and white striped agate of round shape, cabochon cut. The 4 stones are set and fixed by bone-shaped claws. In the band, there are 4 bones, joined two by two, creating a strip where the Latin writing is engraved: ODIE MIHI, CRAS TIBI. (Today it's my turn, tomorrow it's yours). Ebony wood cane, metal tip. Signed Turriet & Bardach. Turriet & Bardach was founded in 1880 by Anton Turriet and Julius Bardach. The company exhibited at the 1902 Turin International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art and produced excellent works in the Art Nouveau style, expressing a romanticism with the voluptuous growth of gardens. It later became known for decorative buckles. Vienna, Austria circa 1880.
