Atlas Mountains, Morocco, Early 20th century The usage of the fibula, an ancient piece of jewelry that holds capes and other clothing in place, is unique to North African Berber costume. Fibulae from the Islamic period are made up of two triangular endpieces fastened into clothes and connected by a chain. Provenance: - Collection Rinck Hollnberger, Munich (purchased in the 1980s or 1990s)
