Scandinavian Modernist Natural Deep Madeira Amber Sterling Silver Statement Ring

About the Item

Large Estate Scandinavian Modernist natural deep madeira translucent amber and sterling silver statement ring. 20th Century Organic form statement ring featuring an artistic sterling silver setting and a superb deep madeira color natural amber gem with beautiful inclusions. The color reads a rich burgundy-red when held to light and a near black against a background. When worn and catches the light, the red color is stunning. This piece feels more like a work of art than a ring. Great scale statement ring. Marks: 925 for sterling silver Length: 1.19 inches Width: 1.13 inches Size: 7.25 US Amber has been cherished as a gemstone since antiquity and has been used in jewelry from 13,000 years ago. Natural amber has a lovely, delicate pinewood fragrance which, when heated, produces oil of amber, likened to musk, an aphrodisiac. It is associated with the powers of attraction and the benefits of good communication. The gem in its natural form has an electrical charge when rubbed, furthering the power of attraction theory. In Buddhist practice, amber serves as a reminder to practice kindly communication. Provenance: estate of a noted New York City psychiatrist and collector of unusual, often one-of-a-kind jewels.
