About the Item
Sergio Bustamante Sterling Silver Limited Edition Sun Face Pendant with Gilt Rays, Numbered 6/99, Mexico, Circa 1980s–1990s
Dimensions: 1" diameter x 1.5" height (with bail)
Weight: 11 grams
A rare and expressive sterling silver limited edition pendant by renowned Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, created circa 1980s–1990s, during the artist’s early venture into wearable silver art. This sculptural sun face pendant features a stylized, high-relief face with arched brows, almond-shaped eyes, and open lips, surrounded by an energetic corona of alternating gilt-finished rays that catch the light with golden warmth.
The combination of oxidized sterling silver and gilded accents creates striking visual contrast—emphasizing the radiance and symbolism of the sun as a source of illumination, creativity, and transformation. Each detail, from the expressive face to the flame-like rays, reflects Bustamante’s signature surrealist-meets-folkloric style.
The reverse is stamped:
“Sergio Bustamante ©,” “925 Mexico,” and editioned 6/99, indicating it is part of a limited run of just 99 pieces, crafted in sterling silver with hand-applied gilding.
A wonderful example of wearable art, this pendant will appeal to collectors of Mexican modernist jewelry, symbolic forms, and the work of one of Mexico’s most imaginative 20th-century artists.

Sergio Bustamante Signed Sterling Silver Sun and Moon Link Bracelet, Mexico, 1980s
Dimensions: 7.5" L x 0.5" W
Weight: 32 grams
Marks: “925 MEX” and “DB-925” (Sergio Bustamante maker's mark)
A sculptural, celestial-themed bracelet by celebrated Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, crafted in sterling silver. The piece features alternating links of expressive sun faces and crescent moons, each individually modeled with Bustamante’s signature surrealist features. The three-dimensional sun medallions radiate stylized flames, while the moons are cast with distinct facial features, gazing thoughtfully to the side.
This work is clearly signed with the Bustamante hallmark “DB-925” on the reverse of each sun element and also marked “MEX 925.” The bracelet fastens securely with a hidden hook-style clasp, consistent with mid- to late-20th-century Mexican artisan jewelry.
A superb and rare example of Bustamante's wearable art, this bracelet stands out for both its craftsmanship and its whimsical yet mystical iconography—perfect for collectors of Mexican modernism or celestial-themed adornments.
