About the Item
Super rare antique leather and bakelite travel backgammon / checkers set, circa 1920s. The set is complete with a foldable case / board that is leather lined with 30 bakelite checkers (cream and red in color, 0.625"D in their own leather case), doubling cube, two dice cups and two pair of dice. Overall, the set is in very good vintage condition with some wear to the case; the board measures 8.75"W x 11"D x 1"H when opened up and ready to play and the closed case measures 8.75"W x 5.5"D x 2"H. The set is marked "Made in France" and could possibly be Cartier. I would guess that the dice and the doubling cube are not original to the set (dice are vintage, but one set is smaller than the other.). The outside of the case has a checker board pattern and the piece can double as a travel checkers set. Unique very hard to find set! #4497
