About the Item

Beautiful vintage Chinese Mahjong set in a green brocade carrying case. A great way to keep family and friends occupied! This set is held in a green satin box. The box itself is covered in a padded silky green fabric with gold stitched details. The top is close-able with an off white fastener which does not fasten. The box lid opens to reveal beautiful white color tiles with green backing. Under the box lid is a paper that features a faint chinoiserie floral pattern in pink and cream. How We Would Style It: First and foremost, this game should be used to play! Mahjong is a game that dates back to China in the Qing dynasty. Commonly played with four players, it is definitely a game to bring together family and friends. Although it is a hard game to master, learning the basics is quite easy. For those who have seen Crazy Rich Asians, the tile design of this set mimics the one from the movie with the green backing on each tile. When not being played, we would love to see this box on display on a coffee table or game table. (Perhaps between two Chippendale chairs, or even something more modern such as a pair of Royere chairs.)Not only a conversation piece but pretty too. The tiles alone are gorgeous enough to display on their own. We are unsure of the completeness of the set due to our lack of knowledge in the game. However, it does include 2 blank tiles and two dice. Dimensions: Box: 7.94” wide 6” deep 1.07” tall Tiles: .63” wide .75” tall .38” deep 1.6 lbs.
