About the Item
A rare original 1930s Sweet-Orr porcelain sign features the iconic three-man tug-of-war graphic, with bold "UNION MADE" text. Designed for general store & mercantile display, this unused New Old Stock (N.O.S.) example shows outstanding color & gloss with all of its original grommets intact. Sweet-Orr was one of the earliest makers of industrial garments and this piece of original advertising speaks to the rugged style and union pride of early 20th-century American labor. Once common fixtures in hardware stores and dry goods counters—today, they’re exceedingly scarce in this condition.
