20th Century Pair Of German Anti-Aircraft Binoculars c.1940

About the Item

These exceptional WWII-era German steel observation binoculars by Joseph Schneider offer a fascinating glimpse into military history while serving as a striking decorative piece. Originally designed by Emil Busch and adopted by the military in 1936, this model was engineered for both day and night-time observation, as well as for guiding artillery fire. The binoculars, stamped with D.F. 10 x 80, dkl, have been professionally polished and restored to their former glory, showcasing their various adjustable dials in full working condition. Mounted on a stunning vintage telescopic wooden tripod stand, this piece combines functionality with high-end design. Its polished steel finish and historical significance make it a truly eye-catching item that would complement the interior of a modern apartment or add a unique touch to any collection of military memorabilia. Both a relic of WWII and a decorative masterpiece, it combines utility and style. Joseph Schneider was a prominent German optical engineer and founder of Schneider Optische Werke, which became one of the leading manufacturers of precision lenses and optical instruments during the 20th century. Established in 1913, Schneider’s company played a key role in producing military-grade binoculars, telescopes, and camera lenses, gaining international recognition for their technical expertise and innovation. Schneider’s work was highly regarded for its quality and precision, contributing significantly to both military and civilian optical advancements. Although the company expanded into photographic lenses post-war, Schneider’s legacy in producing exceptional optical equipment, particularly during WWII, remains integral to the history of optics. His contribution helped solidify Germany's reputation as a global leader in optical engineering during the 20th century. CONDITION In Great Condition - Wear expected with age.
