About the Item

This large and substantial pair of cast and cold-painted locomotive identification plaques show no foundry marks, but are presumed to have been cast in South Africa in circa 1910. The badge "1904" is slightly larger and heavier than the other and believed to be of an earlier period, but both dating to the early 20th century. We pair are both composed of cast iron.
