WWII Carl Zeiss Kriegsmarine binoculars
About the Item
This is an exceptional 20th century WWII German 12x60 Kriegsmarine binocular, presented on an adjustable wooden or chrome Tripod. The binoculars were manufactured by the company Carl Zeiss. Carl Zeiss is a German manufacturer of optical systems, founded in Jena, Germany in 1846 by optician Carl Zeiss. These binoculars were used for long-watch land and sky observation by German forces between 1939 and 1945. These optics have been originally restored in a time-consuming process to reveal a crystal clear Image. Externally, hand stripping the paint inch by inch and polishing to the modern luster resembling a silver finish. These binoculars were Primarily Used for Monitoring incoming aircraft and outgoing artillery fire. When teamed with multiple spotters they could vector both distance and height. Although used throughout the theater of fighting, their primary use was to protect the perimeter of the homeland from allied bombing. All these Binoculars have world-class optics by the known Carl Zeiss. Each Binocular has a story to tell and we are proud to say that every piece is rigorously obtained from lost battlefields and hand restored at our workshop set in the heart of the British countryside. A stunning centerpiece for any home or office, each binocular has its own unique serial markings, which means no one else in the world except you would own this incredible, one of a kind, collectible piece.
Additional Information:These Zeiss Binoculars were primarily utilized by Luftwaffe Flak Artillery ground crews, serving as valuable tools for spotting and identifying enemy aircraft. They played a key role in directing crew-served rangefinders, searchlights, and flak cannons of Anti-Aircraft batteries stationed around various German and occupied ports, cities, and industrial centers. Due to their exceptional optics, they also proved invaluable on the battlefield for tactical observation, being employed in multiple theaters of war by the German Army from the outset of 1939.Zeiss bearing the marker of 'Jumelles 12 x 60' , indicating that they would have been made between 1930 and 1939 in occupied France. They are fitted with adjustable and variable light shades (marked farbglasser) for use in all daytime and darker light conditions and have the later war style rain shield (helpful for eyeglass wearers too), as well as convertible barrel, for additional night/ day usage as well as side switch filter for viewing in direct sunlight. Clearly these were obsessively engineered to exacting standards. They have exceptional optics with the 12 indicating the degree of magnification and the 60 indicating the 6 cm optic width.Specification: Binocular 22cm high , 47cm long , 45cm wide, stand adjustable from 130cm to 180cm.
