About the Item

A beautiful example of the craft of ship modeling, this sloop has all the details the original would have had and the model maker left the lower half of the hull exposed to reveal the frame. Originally in private service, the sloop was christened the Pelican in 1757 with a 16 gun arrangement for His Majesty's Service. This model, created around 1880, is a faithful recreation of the vessel in all its seafaring glory. (Model measurements are listed below. The display case measures 21" long, 9.75" deep and 17" H.)
