About the Item
“Project G epitomized high design, pure form, the perfection of how sacred platonic geometry can bring our banal, everyday products to a higher spiritual art form. It set the trend for stereo equipment to become a composition of extreme pure form, sophisticated materials, and floating sculptural composition for Bang & Olufsen, Brionvega, Telefunken, and others to emulate.” – Karim Rashid
If you are not familiar with the Clairtone project G, I suggest you reference “The Art of Clairtone: The making of a design icon” by Nina Munk and Rachel Gotlieb.
This unit was remarkably well preserved. It comes complete with the original T10 amplified receiver and the Garrard Lab 80 turntable. The book-matched Brazilian rosewood cabinet is absolutely stunning and is completely flawless. The sound globes each rotate 340 degrees to optimize the direction of the sound in the room in relation to the listener. The Clairtone tuner and Garrard phonograph have been professionally serviced along with the built-in pre-amp and everything is functioning as intended. This is the Holy Grail of designer electronic hi-fi systems from the 1960s. Designed by Hugh Spencer, less than 300 of the G1 units were ever produced.
Refinished. Repaired: Fully Restored. Excellent restored condition. The electronics have been repaired by a local electronic engineer. It is currently fully functional. As with any older electronics this unit may require occasional maintenance. We have spared no expense in restoring the operation of the unit but no guarantees will be made regarding to the functionality. We can share a video of the unit. Including sound quality and ease of use.
This example has been completely serviced mechanically and works as intended with only a few minor exceptions.
It has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is cosmetically in extraordinary museum-grade condition.
You will be hard-pressed to find a better-looking Project G1 system available anywhere on the planet.
A bluetooth receiver can be added to the system upon buyer's request for a negligible cost.
For the last 3 decades we have focused on sourcing and restoring Clairtone Project G1 and G2 systems and have subsequently become the number one resource in the US for acquiring a fully restored unit.
We have placed Project Gs in institutions and high profile collections all over the world. Most recently we have partnered with the SFMOMA to assist them in obtaining an extraordinary first generation example for their current exhibition, The Art of Noise.
The Clairtone Project G Systems are the most iconic and coveted examples of mid-century modern hi-fi design in the world.
We also have a Project G2 available in a separate listing.
