Extremely Rare 1954 Alamo Electrical Musical Amplifier, Model 6A

About the Item

Extremely rare 1954 Alamo Electrical musical amplifier, model 6A, mint original showroom condition, retains original canvas cover, complete with operating instructions and warranty bond, Alamo Model 6A from the 1950s. It had the original cloth cover and one page "manual". I paid him a modest price for it, and he gave me "credit" for my labours in helping him. My research shows that Alamo started out in the 1950s in San Antonio, building amps like Fender at the beginning of the electric guitar era. They also built guitars and lapsteels, moved into solid state amps in the 1960s, and then died a slow death. Their small amps seemed popular with harmonica players and TexMex players down around the Mexican border. My 6A uses the exact same circuit as the original Fender Bassman, with top-mounted four inputs and two volume controls. It has this cool 5 push button tone control set up, where each button adds or subtracts treble. Middle is "neutral". It has a 15" Jensen Bluebell speaker. The Model 6 had 6 tubes, including two 6L6's pumping a massive 25 watts. I've seen smaller Model 2 and Model 3, with only a single power tube, into an 8" or 10" speaker, but haven't seen this flagship Model 6A anywhere on the internet. I love the Art Deco "A" grill in birchwood. The amp is pure 1950s vintage Bassman, with a huge cool sound. It's like having an original Bassman in "sheep's clothing" as the Alamo name doesn't have the market value.
