Group of Five Cowboy Acoustic Guitars Including Gene Autry Melody Ranch c 1940's
About the Item
A fun collection of mid century acoustic cowboy guitars, including two Gene Autry Melody Ranch models, circa 1940’s, some unsigned, and one hand painted with “The Plainsman” on the peg head. Each guitar shows some cowboy stenciled scene or island scene, reflecting the mid century time of the singing cowboy in the movies and on television, with Gene Autry being the most remembered. The guitars vary in condition, mostly good, with the back of one taped on, and some warpage, strings missing, fret bar wear, along with rubs and scratches commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: All are approximately 36” H x 13” W x 3 ½” D, except the center guitar which is 38” H. Great for restaurant or bar display! Ref: 8

American Bank Protection Company Alarm System Switchboard in Birch Case c 1920

A fine example of a double alarm system switchboard in birch case circa 1920 manufactured by the American Bank Protection Company of Philadelphia, PA. This alarm system uses of a pair of timers which provided redundancy in the case of the failure of one; the same design used in multiple movements found in time locks. The switchboard is Model #27-2028, and the lower section of the case housed any dry battery case or battery electrical supplies, as these were needed since central electricity stations were not yet common, especially in rural areas. The interior of the lower case shows handwritten service records beginning around 1920. This alarm system switchboard appears to be in amazingly preserved condition, with minimal imperfections and light wear commensurate with age and use.
