About the Item

Mid-20th Century US. brass ship or truck fire fog nozzle "1-1/2- 4 NAP" manufactured by the Akron Brass. This is a great piece and perfect piece of history for any fireman or collector. The fog nozzle is ideal for fires that give out a large amount of heat and hence require extensive cooling. In the fog position, this branch creates very fine droplets i.e "fog", greatly increasing the surface area, thus helping absorb maximum heat. Company background: The Akron Brass Manufacturing Company was formed in Akron, Ohio in 1918. Rubber lined fire hose was being made in Akron at the time. A few of the rubber company employees noticed that while they had the attention of fire equipment buyers, no fittings or nozzles were being manufactured locally. The company moved to Wooster, Ohio in 1921 and incorporated in 1935. A merger took place in 1962 with Premier Industrial.
