About the Item

Antique Miniature Sefer Torah Written on Parchment – With Original Belt and Decorative Mantle An extraordinary and rare example of Judaica, this antique miniature Sefer Torah is fully handwritten on authentic parchment (klaf) in an elegant Ashkenazi Ksav Beit Yosef script, featuring 42 lines per column. Despite its compact scale, the craftsmanship reflects the same reverence and precision as a full-sized Torah scroll, exemplifying deep religious devotion and historical continuity. The scroll remains entirely intact, with all membranes securely connected and no tears or breaks, preserving the unity and sacred form of the Torah. While some fading of the ink is visible—an expected and dignified result of age—it does not detract from the scroll’s aesthetic presence and historical value. This Torah has been examined by a professional sofer (scribe), who confirmed that although not currently kosher, it would require extensive restoration—estimated at $20,000—to be ritually usable. Nonetheless, it stands as a remarkable artifact of Jewish heritage, ideally suited for collectors, educators, or scholars with an appreciation for sacred texts and Jewish ritual artistry. The scroll is accompanied by a functional buckle belt that keeps both sides of the scroll neatly bound, and is dressed in a new, white and gold Torah mantle, beautifully embroidered with gold-colored trim and a central Keter Torah (Torah Crown) motif, lending it both dignity and ceremonial grace. Height of Scroll: 17.5 cm Script: Ashkenazi / Ksav Beit Yosef Kosher Status: Not kosher (restoration estimate available) Includes: Original buckle belt and new embroidered Torah mantle Condition: Very good overall; parchment fully intact with age-consistent fading of ink
