About the Item
An Italian 19th century gilded wood richly carved altar stand. This Italian giltwood altar stand features exquisite cloud motifs in its top part with radiating sun-rays draping the back wall of the piece. The polygonal shape is decorated with mirrored panels and alternates mirrored ionic pillars. The back of this alter stand is carved as well echoing the cloudy sun-ray motifs in its top part and depicting the sacrificial lamp on an altar in its lower section. The craftsmanship and precision in the details shown on the treatment of this 19th century Italian piece is undeniable. This item would look great as a decoration perhaps on a mantel or an accent table, ideally placed in front of a mirror which would reflect the back side. You would be also inspired to add a small decorative piece, perhaps a statue in order to give back its original purpose to this altar piece.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Good condition with good amount of obvious wear and aging. Particularly on the right side, the last pillar is missing and the old nails are visible. Some of the glass is cracked. This does not offend the eye when taken as an ensemble. Look at photos.
