Unique wall plaque sculpture, depicting Heart of Jesus.
We are honored to present this exceptional and rare handcrafted salt-glazed polychrome stoneware wall sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and created in the renowned atelier of Terraco Beesel, the Netherlands, between 1923 and 1950.
This substantial piece is a standout example of religious art, combining both powerful symbolism and masterful craftsmanship. The figure of Christ is portrayed in a serene, yet deeply expressive pose, right hand upon His heart, left hand extended in blessing, capturing the spiritual essence of the Sacred Heart devotion. The sculpture is richly decorated with salt glaze, giving it a warm, earthy luster, and subtle color transitions in muted ochre, browns, and blues.
The piece shows remarkable attention to detail, from the finely modeled facial features to the flowing robes and delicately rendered wounds in the hands. It is affixed to a cloud-form base and is intended for wall mounting. Despite its age, the sculpture is in beautiful condition with only minor signs of wear consistent with its age.
