Large Antique Hand Carved Wood Black Forest Wall Plaque W. Crucifix Behind Glass
Located in Lisse, NL
Museum quality and condition work of religious art with amazing, hand carved details.
This amazingly hand carved wooden wall plaque is not only of great quality and condition, it also has a patina that is unlike anything you ever saw. Over the decades we have sold a number of unique and interesting crucifixes, but we had not yet come across one that is inside such a beautiful branches and leaf frame in the Swiss Black Forest style. For us to have found it in this amazing condition again felt like a blessing and we are grateful to be able it to offer it to our 1stdibs clientele first. At the centre of this Christian-work-of-art-wall-plaque and behind the original, mouth-blown convex glass 'window' is an even more detailed sepiolite sculpture of Christ on the cross. The details in this crucifix sculpture...

Stunning Victorian Lighting Gothic Brass & Mouth Blown Art Glass Pendant Lantern
Located in Lisse, NL
Graceful and all handcrafted antique light fixture.
This early Arts & Crafts era pendant has an aesthetic beauty that you don't find anymore in this day and age. It has the most pleasing to the eye shape and amber color and the handcrafted brass has a marvelous patina. In images 2 and 3 you can see that this unique light fixture started its life as (and still is) a candle lantern. Because of the Gothic quatrefoil details this may have been a sanctuary lamp at the entrance of a church or monastery. The beautifully patinated brass is all hand-crafted, but the unique art glass shade with its unique hand-etched, flowery patterns and amazing color is what makes this antique truly special. Have you also noticed the 'stand-alone' etched oak branches with acorns? They symbolize growth and unlimited potential since an acorn can grow into a huge oak tree that, by itself, can seed an entire forest. Both with the light switched on and off you could not wish for a more stylish, European antique fixture. It is of the kind that you certainly don't find anymore in this day and age. This ideal hallway or bedroom pendant light...

Last Supper Murano Aventurine Blown Ruby Glass Goblet Lultima Cena Leonardo
Located in Mobile, AL
The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci on a Murano ruby red blown glass with aventurine stem goblet. The quality of the Renaissance style painted enamel and depth of surface is extraordinary and well represented in the photos. The Neoclassical and Renaissance Revival glassware of Murano was responsible for the revival of the industry in the 19th century and has provided an economic base to the industry ever after. The trade commonly refers to this style of work as style of Salviati based upon the 19th century firm and documented examples in major museum collections. I attribute this example to Seguso based upon labels found in past auction...

Antique Gilt Bronze & Brass & Glass Gothic Sanctuary Lamp / Church Candle Light
Located in Lisse, NL
Stunning 19th century Gothic art, four arms candle pendant with gargoyle sculptures and much more.
This late 1800s church relic truly has an aura of religiousness about it. This sanctuary pendant is entirely handcrafted and for the most part in solid bronze with a large number of stunning and pure Gothic elements. With churches and monasteries being among the wealthiest of institutions in 19th century Europe it often is there where the best quality crafted items were found. This remarkable sanctuary lamp certainly is no exception to that rule. With a multitude of thick bronze quatrefoil and trefoil symbols in the bowl shaped base this antique church relic clearly could not be more Gothic in style. It does not stop there though, because the four arms are entirely created out of scrolling branches with grape leafs and grape bunches, together symbolising the blood of Christ. Together with the unique canopy with the four gilt bronze gargoyle...

Antique Gilt Bronze & Brass & Glass Gothic Sanctuary Lamp / Church Candle Light

Stunning 19th century Gothic art pendant with gilt scrolling flower and leaf patterns.
This late 1800s church relic truly has an aura of religiousness about it. This sanctuary pendant is entirely handcrafted and for the most part in solid bronze with a large number of stunning and sharp details. With churches and monasteries being among the richest of institutions in 19th century Europe it often is there where the best quality crafted items were found. This remarkable sanctuary lamp certainly is no exception to that rule. With the trefoil symbols at the bottom of each of the three sides with the stunning scrolling floral motifs this is one of the most beautiful sanctuary lights that we ever had the pleasure of offering. It is all original from top to bottom and it could hardly be in better condition. What makes this church relic extra special is the thick and mouthblown cobalt blue glass candle holder...
