Rare Arts & Crafts Standing Floor Crucifix w Stylized Bronze Sculpture of Christ

About the Item

Rare Gothic revival church crucifix and a wonderful hand crafted work of religious art. Made and marked by Brom, Utrecht (see image 17). Brom of Utrecht was a family (or dynasty) of goldsmiths in the Dutch city of Utrecht and they were known for creating some of the best ecclesiastical art that was available in the second half of the 19th and in the first half of the 20th century (from 1856 to 1961 to be exact). They were both designers and manufacturers and, as it goes with truly good makers, they also attracted the interest of other top designers from that era. Those other top designers needed a company to handcraft their top quality designs and Brom of Utrecht was one of the 'go-to' companies for many decades. Those designers were Steph Uiterwaal, Jos Pinker, Wilfried Put, Jo Uiterwaal and Maarten Zwollo. It will be very difficult to ever find a more beautifully designed and geometrically more pure and perfect, Art & Crafts cross and Christ sculpture. This large size, standing crucifix truly is a stunning and impressive work of religious art that will never fail to impress you or anyone visiting. This Christian work of art dates from the 1910s or 1920s and although over the centuries crucifixes have been made in all kinds of shapes and sizes, the ones from the Arts & Crafts era seem to be the most distinctive in style. And this pure Arts & Crafts crucifix certainly is no exception. The straight lined and geometrical details in this Jesus sculpture are among the best we have seen. Thanks to the marvelous oak base with stylish bronze heads (probably gargoyles), this unique stand is as nicely balanced and firm on the floor as the day it was handcrafted all those years ago. This sizeable and meaningful work of religious art is very suitable for a monastery or small church, but it will also look great in any collector's home or apartment. Finally, this meaningful gem ofcourse also makes a great gift for a devout loved one. If you are a religious art lover or an art loving religious person then this fine and pure Arts and Crafts crucifix floor stand might just be perfect for you. Again great value for many. Especially since perfect packing and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth: 76.5 x 14 x 13 inches. Width x depth of the base: 13 x 13 inches. Height of the christ sculpture alone: 9.8 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

Stunning & Powerful Altar Crucifix with Detailed Bronze Sculpture of Christ 1912
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique table crucifix and a wonderful work of religious art, dated 1912 and numbered. For us the most powerful statement will always be 'the truth will set you free'. It is what we have learned most from the life of Christ and of His teachings and it is the one thing we always think about whenever we look at a crucifix. Anyone who has tried to break down his/her ego and found a clearer consciousness in the process knows how healing and rewarding that journey can be. After that you can only be grateful for all the good things that are bound to come your way. Good things will come your way, because the universe needs people like you. Whomever created this amazing work of religious art too must have been inspired and motivated by the life of Christ, because how ever could anyone create a piece that is of such quality, so beautiful and so powerful at the same time. Both the beautifully designed bronze cross with the King of the Jews inscription and the amazingly detailed bronze corpus of Christ are of a quality that you will only rarely find on the open market. They are perfectly mounted on a stunning marble base and together they create one of the most impressive table or altar crucifixes...

Crucifix on Calvary, Called Plague of Christ, France, Early 18th Century
Located in Milan, IT
Crucifix on Calvary, called 'Pestis Christi' or Crucifiix Pestis 'Plague of Christ' or Plague Crucifix). The sculpture is composite, made with heterogeneous materials: wax, wood, papier-mâché. The octagonal base is slightly raised and supports the calvary, symbolized by rocks, from which the crucifix rises, made with intentionally unfinished boards and with marked veins. The depicted Christ is peculiar: he shows scarified skin all over his body. Masterfully crafted in wax. They are the plagues of the plague that Christ, 'Agnus Dei' takes charge of with salvific value, for the salvation of the world. At his feet the ordeal full of symbols: evil (snake) with the apple, the 'Memento mori' of human bones...
