A Rare Olivewood Etrog Container, Jerusalem 20th century

A rare 20th-century olivewood Etrog container handcrafted in Jerusalem. The box features an octagonal shape with intricate carvings that celebrate its cultural and religious significance. The lid is adorned with a depiction of the Ten Commandments tablets containing the two blessings made on the Lulav, framed by olive branches, symbolizing peace. Painted Hebrew inscriptions encircle the lid quoting biblical texts regarding the four species of fruit traditionally used to make blessings on the festival of Sukkot, adding spiritual depth and artistry. The sides of the box showcase carvings of Jerusalem's iconic architecture, including the Western Wall, the Tomb of the Matriarch- Rachel, and the Temple Mount, capturing the city's sacred and historical essence. The natural grain of the olivewood enhances its aesthetic appeal, showcasing the rich, warm tones unique to this wood.
