Unique Fine Table Altar Crucifix with Bronze Sculptures of Christ, Mary and John

About the Item

Large and exceptional work of religious art. If you are a collector of truly exceptional church artefacts then this early 20th century altar piece could be perfect for you. With church related antiques as one of our specialties we know that you will rarely find a better quality altar crucifix from this era. Both the corpus of Christ and the sculptures of Mary and Saint John mourning on either side are of a quality and beauty that is unsurpassed and you just don't find this kind of beauty and quality on the open market. The flowing, Art Nouveau style of the posture of Mary and John too tell us that this piece was created around 1900-1910. The small bronze maker's plaque at the bottom right tells us that this unique church relic was made by A.H. Haan of Antwerp, but unfortunately we don't know the name of the artist who designed the amazing bronze sculptures. The plaque also reads 'ornements d'eglise' which means church ornaments and it is clear they were specialists and top quality makers. This unique and handcrafted crucifix of considerable size and weight is in excellent condition and its quality and condition makes it suitable for the most beautiful of churches and monasteries. The details of the draped clothes, the depth in the bronze, the beautiful body and face of Christ and the amazing patina against the brass and oak background are some of the stunning elements that make this crucifix very impressive. Together they give even more weight to its profound meaning. This antique is great value for money. Also, because our price includes perfect packing and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 days. Maximum height x width x depth: 46.4 x 33.75 x 6 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish and meaningful and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Unique and Large Crucifix with a Rare Size Hand Crafted Ceramic Corpus of Christ
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique and artistic crucifix from the European Midcentury Modern era. Over the centuries the life and teachings of Christ have inspired many an artist to create His image in just as many ways as there were artist. In more recent decades the way in which Christ on the cross has been portrayed has changed significantly from how He was portrayed in previous centuries. Just like Christ was portrayed very differently in the early 20th century as opposed to how He was seen and portrayed in, for example, the Baroque era. And this way will keep changing as evolve. Just like with the other Styles, this modernist version of Christ either speaks to you or it does not and the way in which different people will see and experience this Christ will be very different too. That ofcourse also is the job of every artist, to make you think about an artwork and make you feel something at the same time. Not only is this unique modernist sculpture different in design from most Christ sculptures you will have ever seen, it also is all hand-crafted in a very rare material. This ceramic work of religious art also comes with a mild glazing and the unique elongated design makes it even more modern and 'experimental'. Thanks to the perfect metal hook on the back, safely mounting this piece is much easier than one would expect. If you already have a place and space in mind for Him then maybe you should be this sculpture's next custodian. Mind you, our fair price for this unique and very large, Midcentury crucifix...

Stunning & Powerful Altar Crucifix with Detailed Bronze Sculpture of Christ 1912
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique table crucifix and a wonderful work of religious art, dated 1912 and numbered. For us the most powerful statement will always be 'the truth will set you free'. It is what we have learned most from the life of Christ and of His teachings and it is the one thing we always think about whenever we look at a crucifix. Anyone who has tried to break down his/her ego and found a clearer consciousness in the process knows how healing and rewarding that journey can be. After that you can only be grateful for all the good things that are bound to come your way. Good things will come your way, because the universe needs people like you. Whomever created this amazing work of religious art too must have been inspired and motivated by the life of Christ, because how ever could anyone create a piece that is of such quality, so beautiful and so powerful at the same time. Both the beautifully designed bronze cross with the King of the Jews inscription and the amazingly detailed bronze corpus of Christ are of a quality that you will only rarely find on the open market. They are perfectly mounted on a stunning marble base and together they create one of the most impressive table or altar crucifixes...
