About the Item

This antique Dow Jones News Wire Broad Tape Ticker Tape machine from the 1930s-1940s. With its beautifully crafted design and historical significance, it is a must-have for any serious collector of stock market memorabilia. This machine represents a bygone era when stock market information was transmitted via wire news service over radio or copper wire telephone connection. Similar to a ticker tape machine but larger and more detail was made available via this medium. It is sure to be a conversation starter in any collection. The Dow Jones Wall Street Journal broad tape printer was a ticker tape machine used in the mid-20th century to print stock quotes, telegrams, cables, and other financial news on a continuous 5-inch wide paper tape. These machines were nicknamed "broad tape" tickers because of their wide paper tape and were a common sight in brokerage houses and newsrooms during their heyday. The sound of the ticker tape became synonymous with the fast-paced world of finance. Untested condition but overall in good condition with original clipboard no scissors.
