An oversized brass silk scale with wooden stand, Italy 1850.

About the Item

Ancient scale for weighing silk. Over a square wooden base weighted with lead with brass plaque and connecting element rise the tall wooden central part, made out of wood, with moved profile and black lacquered. Overall the arm of the scale, the circular reference and the needle for measurement. At the end of each side of the harm two circular elements held by iron hooks showing three lion’s heads. Than the chains down to the dishes, of different diameter, hand hammered. The scale shows dozens of control hallmarks. Italy circa 1850.
