: Wooden pocket diptych sundial Ernst Christoph Stocket. Germany 1780 - 1811.

About the Item

Wooden pocket diptych sundial Ernst Christoph Stocket - type, Bavaria. A folding wooden sundial is partially covered in paper with engraved/printed decorations and text. A compass is integrated into the bottom plate. The interior is covered in paper with hand-printed decorations depicting parts of cups. Brass hooks and eyes to lock the structure. Brass compass ring, iron pointer, paper with printed weather indications and glass closure. Braided cord for indicating the time. Latitudes up to 56° are indicated.
