About the Item
This Cigar Ashtray is a must-have for any collector or enthusiast. It is preowned and in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or smudges. I don’t think it has ever been used. With its elegant design and classic colors of gold and white, it is perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any room. The ashtray features the JR est 1971 logo, commemorating its 50th anniversary.
The story of JR Cigar begins on March 10, 1970, when Lew Rothman opened the doors to his new retail store on Sixth Avenue and 46th Street in New York City. Rothman saw the success that local grocery stores had with selling cigars and decided to open his own store that specialized in cigars. Rothman, JR Cigar became a destination for consumers seeking out different cigar brands like Te-Amo and Bering. The first sale that Rothman made was for a 10-pack of Tijuana Smalls Aromatic cigars, a tipped-cigar that sold for 29 cents a pack.
As the 1970s progressed, Rothman continued to grow and expand the JR Cigar brand. With brands like Macanudo, Hoyo de Monterrey, Punch and Royal Jamaica, Rothman was able to transform his retail operation and offer its customers even more value through its own branded products, such as the JR Alternative. Launched in 1975, JR Alternative was conceived as a cigar that imitated the taste of some of the most popular cigars of the time.

Who could have ever imagined that photography could be installed into streets? Well street artist JR did just the unimaginable by combining the two. Born in France on February 22, 1983, JR was just another average teenager with a passion for graffiti. He lived graffiti and truly enjoyed the movement. His graffiti moniker was Face 3. However, it was not until he found a camera on the subway that his perception on street art change. This allowed him to track the individuals who communicate messages via walls and street art. He quickly began to track people in the forbidden undergrounds and roofs of Paris, France. In 2004, street artist JR photographed the riots that broke out in the banlieues and created his first major project by pasting up large prints of their faces around the city. JR owns the biggest art gallery in the world. He exhibits freely in the streets of the world and has always allowed the public to assist with his street artwork. He prefers to catch the attention of people who are not a part of the typical museum visitors. His work mixes Art and Act, talks about commitment, freedom, identity, and limit. JR street art
Currently, his most common method to create street art is through the use of wheat pasting and gigantic mono photographs. He often gets his subject models faces with a 28mm wide-angle lens which result in portraits that unguarded, funny, soulful, real, and that capture the spirits of individuals who normally go unseen. His work of art brings forward common everyday materials to the light. These blown-up images are then pasted on urban surfaces such as the sides of buildings, bridges, rooftops, and even trains. Not only do they confront the public audience, but they also help engage audiences where they least expect it. Often introducing those who are unfortunate in the world to the remaining population in the world. In 2006, street artist JR achieved Portrait of a Generation, in the bourgeois districts of Paris. This illegal project became official when the Paris City Hall wrapped its building with JR’s photos. In 2007, he managed to defy expert’s predictions of failure and created the largest illegal exhibition ever. His street artwork was placed as huge portraits of Israelis and Palestinians face to face in a variety of Palestinian and Israeli cities. Not only that but he bravely engaged in illegal activity by bypassing authorities and securities on both sides of the separation wall in this location. This exhibition was widely known as Face 2 Face. Over the years JR has constantly engaged his street artwork audience and has presented numerous exhibitions and projects to include, Women are Heroes, The Wrinkles of the City, and InsideOut. His work has touched thousands of city inhabitants and often displaying culture, history, and memory for a particular location. His work can be found worldwide, and he has touched cities such as Cartagena, Shanghai, and Los Angeles.

Couroc of Monterey Heritage Classic Golf Tray
By The Couroc Company
Located in Charleston, SC
I love Couroc trays! They made so many different ones different themes or for different events, that if you look long enough and collect long enough, there is one for everyone. And they make a great unique gift. And maybe because I’m a collector, but I love the idea of collecting these and gifting them when you the right person comes to light and the timing is just right. This tray is a rare one because it was used for promotional purposes and was a small limited edition. So calling all golfers or friends of golfers! They also make great tray for rolling your medicinal smoke.
Couroc History
Whimsical and intricately designed, Couroc trays and barware were produced for more than 40 years by highly skilled artisans in Monterey, California. Due to a unique process of hand-inlaying natural materials and fusing them into phenolic resin, no two Couroc pieces are exactly alike; each vintage mid-century modern piece celebrates unmatched beauty and durability.
The Couroc Company was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier and his wife Moira Wallace in 1948. Prior to creating the company, Courvoisier ran the Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco, which he inherited from his father in 1934. In 1937, when Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Courvoisier saw a chance to represent a unique line of art - a desire of his that would grow in scope and vision, ultimately leading to the creation of the Couroc Company. In 1938, Disney granted Courvoisier the exclusive right to market their original animation art...
