Antique Art Deco Figural Marching Band Drum & Drumsticks Cigarette Table Lighter

About the Item

This antique table lighter is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from France and date to approximately 1920 and done in the period Art Deco style. The lighter is done in a realistic manner and resembles a marching band drum with two drum sticks laying across the top rim. The sides of the lighter are done with leather laces to mimic the tension straps on drums of this era. The drum itself houses the lighter fluid and the drum sticks function as the lighting mechanism as one is hinged and lifts to reveal the wick and there is a brass wheel on the other which spins to provide the spark. Both handles of the drumsticks are threaded so that the flint can be replaced and the flame adjusted. The front of the drum is hand-painted with crossed French flags giving a military or patriotic appearance. Please note that the lighter has not been tested, but the mechanical components all appear to be in working order.
