About the Item
This chrome table lighter was made by the renowned Alfred Dunhill Company of England and dates to 1960 and done in the period Mid-Century Modern style. The lighter is made in the likeness of the F-86 fighter jet, which set world speed records some years previously. The lighter is done in a heavy cast metal with a thick chrome finish and stands on a pedestal base. The lighter ignites when the button inside the front intake is depressed, which flips up the canopy to expose the flame within the cockpit area. The lighter is clearly signed with the Dunhill maker's logo on the bottom of the base.

This very unique lighted smoker's stand is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in North America, likely the United States, in approximately 1950 in an Art Deco style. This smoker's stand is done in chromed metal with a streamlined and stylized jet fighter airplane suspended between the cast handle and table top. The base is nicely pierced and decorated with geometric designs and is accented by a molded glass dome light done with marbled colors. The light turns on and off with a switch on the base and the electrical elements have been completely restored.
