About the Item

Breathtaking tobacco box from the well-known manufacturer Julius Dressel, a masterpiece that is incredibly rare. Made between 1915 and 1920, it is an original, marked Art Nouveau object. It shows a man in a dressing gown and nightcap who smokes a long pipe and appears very content. A special feature is the black and ivory colored dressing gown - it is designed all over with Art Nouveau motifs - typical of the Art Nouveau of Vienna. The design is reminiscent of Otto Prutscher, Josef Hoffmann and others. The tobacco tin is also very large: dimensions approximately: height 10,24 in - 26 cm, diameter 5,51 in - 14 cm. The peculiarity of this piece is not just its rarity, or the size, the manufacture, but the outstanding design. Objects from this period with this typical Viennese decor are incomparable and sought-after collector's items.
