About the Item

This very pleasing object is a rare piece of smoking history which would benefit any collection. It is a novelty smoking pipe produced by the high quality French firm of Butz Choquin and bears their faint initials BC on the stem of the mouthpiece. This novelty smoking pipe is beautifully hand carved from a rich dense piece of burr briar wood and it is in the form of a long eared owl with large yellow and black inset glass eyes. The pipe appears to have been a prized possession, well used and very well cared for in good original condition. French, circa 1900 Height of carved bowl 6cm width including stem 15cm x depth of bowl 4cm A great addition for an owl or pipe collector
