Rare 1930s Art Deco Evans Chrome & Enamel Cigarette Case and Matching Ligher Set

About the Item

Rare 1930s Art Deco Evans Chrome & Enamel Cigarette Case and Matching Trig-A-Lite Lighter Set – Streamline Engine-Turned Design This rare and exceptional 1930s Art Deco Evans cigarette case and Trig-A-Lite lighter set exemplifies the height of American design during the Machine Age. Produced by the famed Evans Case Company, each piece showcases a bold, streamlined asymmetrical design, a hallmark of Art Deco styling, where chrome, enamel, and engine-turned detailing work in harmony to create a striking geometric motif. The front surfaces of both the cigarette case and lighter feature an elegant interplay of textures: polished chrome, vivid enamel panels, and various intricate engine-turned patterns, creating dynamic contrasts of light and form. The reverse sides of both pieces display a beautifully detailed, matching woven engine-turned motif, highlighting Evans’ craftsmanship and attention to every angle. Functionality is equally impressive — both spring-loaded mechanisms open and close smoothly. The interior of the cigarette case is clean, with a pristine spring-loaded cigarette holder stamped "Evans." The bottom of the lighter features two precision-engineered turning gears, one stamped “Evans Trig-A-Lite,” a mark of the brand’s patented ignition technology. Evans Case Company, based in Attleboro, Massachusetts, was a leader in luxury accessories from the 1920s through the 1950s, specializing in vanity cases, lighters, and cigarette boxes. Known for innovation, Evans patented several lighter designs during the 1930s, one of which led to a notable legal battle with the Ronson Company, who claimed infringement on their own patented technology. The case ultimately elevated Evans’ visibility in the decorative arts market and cemented its legacy among collectors of fine American Art Deco objects. This matching set is especially rare — surviving paired cigarette cases and lighters from this era are uncommon, and even fewer retain this level of condition and design integrity. The combination of chrome, enamel, and engine turning is a textbook example of Machine Age Deco, blending artistry with mechanical precision. These materials and techniques were not only decorative but symbolized progress and modernity during the interwar years. Condition: Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition with only minimal, age-appropriate wear and no specific damage to note. The enamel is intact and vibrant, the chrome retains its luster, and all mechanical components function smoothly.

Located in Red Lion, PA
Stunning 1930s German Art Deco Porcelain Half Doll with Rococo Hairstyle This exquisite 1930s German porcelain half doll captures the refined beauty and timeless glamour of the Art Deco period, paired with the romantic influence of 18th-century Rococo style. Rendered in fine porcelain with exceptional attention to detail, this rare figure is a striking example of German artistry at its peak. Her delicate features are simply enchanting — bright blue eyes accented by soft blue eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, and vivid red lips, all hand-painted with precision. Her ornate updo evokes the powdered wigs of the 1700s, gathered high with an elegant bow at the back and a tiny tiara perched at the front, nodding to both historic elegance and theatrical flair. What sets this figure apart is her graceful, outstretched arms, posed in a fluid and balletic gesture, capturing a moment of poised movement. It’s a pose both sculptural and expressive, and one rarely seen in typical half dolls. Her condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or signs of repair. Here delicately painted features remain vivid after nearly a century. German half dolls...
