Rare, special smoking table, tabbacco accessories, Black Forest, Tramp Art, 1895
About the Item
Fascinating smoking table with detachable accessories, made in Bavaria or Austria at the end of the 19th century.
The ingenious design features a column - stylized as a branch growing out of curving roots - which form the triangular base.
The top slab is also organically designed as it is a mountainous landscape with various towers on top. These towers are beautifully designed, with battlements, tiled decor and pretty doors. There are also two open serving bowls that can be used as ashtrays or match dispensers. The whole piece is made of basswood, which was stained to a beautiful warm colour.
Measurements approx.: height 39,37 in - 100 cm with the accessoiries, only the table: 31,50 in - 80 cm, diameter 14,57 in - 37 cm
Wonderful and very rare piece of furniture that will immediately become a very special eye-catcher in the room. An original historic Black Forest piece of furniture that represents the splendor of the time just before 1900.
