Vintage Royal Doulton fishing Ceramic. A Royal Doulton Series Ware 'The Gallant Fishers' fishing bowl. The bowl is with a polychrome fishing scene of a fisherman lying on the river bank reading a book. The inscription around the edge reads 'And When The Timrous Trout I Wait To Take And He Devours My Bait'. here is a slight foul to the side of the bowl, but may have been done when made as it is glazed over. Antique early 20th Century English solid silver mounted ceramic match striker, made by Royal Doulton & Finnigans. The striker, of a round shape is mounted with a plain silver collar. Due to its size and weight, this versatile match striker can also serve as a paperweight. The ceramic is marked underneath with the Royal Doulton mark and reference number 4104. The silver collar is hallmarked English silver, (925 standard), Birmingham, year 1910 (l), Maker Finnigans. A little about the maker, the story of Finnigans began in 1830 when Benjamin Finnigan, initially trading under the name Brian B Finnigan, established a workshop in Newton Street...
