Ichimatsu Ningyo Doll from Japan Around 1890

About the Item

Ichimatsu Ningyo doll is a Japanese shell limestone doll from the Meiji period. The doll body as well as the head, forearms, hands, legs and feet are made of shell limestone, only the upper arms are made of fabric. This little guy is just great, everything of him is still in original condition, even his pretty and elaborately worked silk - kimono is from the years around 1890. The dark glass eyes make his face expressive and his body and hair are hand painted. Only his head has been restored once in color and his clothes have faded over the years. The doll is fixed on a stand.
